Gang:

Here is where we stand on all of the roster-related issues.

1. Rosters: After much wrangling with TQ Stats, we were finally able to
"submit" the rosters. The hold-up related to the six players that were not in
the TQ Stats database. Despite promises from TQ Stats that such player would be
entered on Friday, they only first appeared in the database today.

Each team roster now includes all of the players that were acquired in the
auction and rotation draft, including the six players that were not previously
in the TQ stats database. I am hopeful that, by the time people read this
message in the morning, that the current league standings will appear on the
website.

2. Past roster moves/FAAB: Because of the confusion during this past week,
the FAAB moves that were submitted this past weekend will not be honored. We
will open the FAAB bidding this weekend, with the first FAAB moves being
effective on Sunday. I will shortly clear out the usmltrans mail (without reading
it) that had been sent last weekend. Please re-submit any FAAB moves in
accordance with the instructions below.

Roster moves, however, will be handled differently. Please re-submit any
roster moves that you intended to be effective as of the first game by
responding to this e-mail (in other words, do not send those moves to
usmltrans at aol.com). I will input all of those transactions retroactively as soon as I receive
them. If you had not intended to make any transactions, please indicate that
as well.

3. Future roster moves/FAAB: Please make your roster moves in the usual
manner for this coming weekend and all future weeks. For those new to the
league, moves are submitted in two different ways.

First, regular roster moves (activating or reserving players) can be made by
each owner through the website. You can do this by going to your team page,
looking for the column heading "transactions," and then clicking on the lower
of the two drop down menus in that column until you find "lineup changes."
When you clickon lineup changes, the system brings up your entire roster, and
then there are drop down menus next to each player by which you can change status
from "active" to reserve" (and vice versa) and change positions. When you
make these moves, please make sure that the result of your moves leaves you with
roster integrity. In other words, don't submit your roster with six
outfielders; change one of the outfielders to utility (or whatever is appropriate in
the circumstances of your team).

Second, FAAB moves and waiver claims are handled by the commissioner. Submit
your FAAB moves and waiver claims directly to usmltrans at aol.com. In your
e-mail submission, however, you should NOT include roster moves that you already
entered on the system (see below for a temporary exception to this rule).
However, you SHOULD include any roster moves that you wish to have made that are
dependent upon the success or failure of your FAAB bids and that provide roster
integrity. For example, if you are bidding on a free agent pitcher, you
should indicate (1) your bid, (2) where that player should be slotted (active or
reserve) if your bid is successful, (3) the player you are reserving if the
FAAB player will be active, (4) the player you are releasing if addition of the
FAAB player will cause your roster to exceed 17 reserve players, and (5) the
position at which the player should be slotted. In addition, you may indicate
moves to be made if your bid is unsuccessful.

PLEASE NOTE: there will be special submission procedures for the first few
weeks of the season. In order to make sure the system is working and that all
owners understand how the system works, you should submit the moves that you
believe you made yourself to usmltrans at aol.com. Please put those moves in a
separate section of your e-mail. The only purpose of this portion of your
submission is to ensure that roster move entry is operating smoothly and that we
have a record of the desired roster moves. If the system is not working, I can
use these e-mails to make moves retroactively. Once we determine the system
is working properly, we will discontinue this practice.

I apologize for the length of this e-mail. Please call me or e-mail me
with any questions, especially the new owners. For Cups and Republicans, I am
happy to walk you through the system and explain it. For other owners, I am
equally willing to provide a quick refresher course. Thanks for everyone's
patience.
