Its always great to see two of my players listed as "who's not" hot. Then again it describes another of my players as going for .400 so at least I have that going for me. Gunga gunga galunga.

MLB Editor

(Sports Network) - The Minnesota Twins have made major strides over the past two
weeks without actually making up ground. That's life in the American League
Central.

The Twins have won seven games in a row and 15 out of their last 16, but remain
11 games behind Detroit in the division. The Tigers have won six in a row, while
the second-place White Sox have won eight out of 10.

"It's unbelievable that you could have three teams playing that well all at
once, especially all three of us being in the same division," backup catcher
Mike Redmond said. "It's really unbelievable."

Since the Twins started their streak on June 8, they have picked up just a
half-game in the division. They have swept four of their last five three-game
series.

The Twins have also taken full advantage of the interleague portion of the
schedule. They have a 13-2 record against NL teams, which is tied with Detroit
and second to only Boston (13-1).

The team has also gotten an outstanding effort from its pitching staff, which
was the cause of many of its early season woes. the starters are 12-0 with a
1.84 ERA during the past 16 games.

Redmond said that as long as the Twins keep playing well, they're bound to make
up some ground at some point, especially considering the number of times they
face Detroit and Chicago this season.

Until then, they just have to keep winning.

SPLENDID SPLINTER

Joe Mauer's run at becoming the first player to hit .400 since Ted Williams
continued during a three-game series with the Dodgers. Mauer went 11-for-13 in
the series and had a hit in eight straight at-bats. He leads the majors with a
.392 batting average this season.

CENTURY MARK

Joe Nathan recorded his 100th save on Saturday when he closed out a 3-0 win over
the Chicago Cubs. He did it in less than three seasons with the Twins and this
season, he is 5-0 with a 1.91 ERA in 29 games. He has 13 saves in 14
opportunities and has 47 strikeouts to just four walks.

WHITE HEADED TO DL

The Twins are expected to place designated hitter Rondell White on the disabled
list on Friday. White has been experiencing stiffness in his shoulder. He is
batting .182 this season and will begin a minor league rehab assignment with
Triple-A Rochester. The move coincides with the activation of Shannon Stewart
from the DL.

WHO'S HOT

Jason Kubel has hit safely in 18 of his last 19 games and has eight home runs
and 26 RBIs in that span.

WHO'S NOT

Luis Castillo is hitting .219 in his last seven games and Lew Ford has one hit
in his last 13 at-bats.

ON DECK

Brad Radke (6-7, 5.40) will be on the mound when the Twins take on Milwaukee at
home on Friday. Carlos Villanueva (0-0, 2.65) will get the start for the
Brewers. The Twins' Carlos Silva (4-8, 6.43) will get the ball on Saturday
against Chris Capuano (9-4, 3.10). On Sunday, Francisco Liriano (8-1, 2.21)
opposes the Brewers' Zach Jackson (1-0, 4.70).
