Given improvements in roster updates on mlb.com, next year I will propose that we change the rule to simply use those on the "active roster".

Subject: [USML Announce] Draft Eligibility Question

Can a few more of you chime in on the draft day eligibility question -- which remains unresolved.
By my count you've got Blocker, Kerber, Klein and Robbins in the "strict construction" camp (which means that ROY-eligible players on the NRI are not auction eligible).
Jeff supports allowing any NRI player identified on his list without regard to ROY eligibility.
I've lost track of where others stand -- forgive me if you have already taken a position -- please restate. (I think Buddha may also agree with Jeff on this one -- how about that?)
It takes a majority to change the rules so five others need to join Jeff.
By the way, I think that the reason this is an issue this year when it was not in the past is that in prior years we held our drafts well in advance of opening day so it was harder to identify players that were almost certainly to be on an opening day roster but not on the 40 man list. Even though we are increasingly accustomed to pre-opening day drafts they will always be less than perfect.
