[USML Announce] With Curt Hurt, Will Nukes Go Schilling For More Pitching? .:.

I have no doubt that MacDougal will be given a shot to close, too, a la Little League. However, the schedule for his return is still out in the 4 to 6 week range (just like it's been for the past two months), not two weeks. Moreover, based on career numbers, my guess is that Dessens is probably a better pitcher overall than MacDougal and, unlike MacDougal, he's signed through next year. Since I don't really need a full-time closer as much as a few added saves, I'm pretty happy with Dessens. I was mostly just taking a poke at Brad for dissing my $5 FAAB purchase, who has actually done pretty well to date.

Either way, Burgos's next chance to close will probably not be this year. And maybe not next year either.

P.S. If KC played in AAA, would they have a winning record? I'm not sure.

Actually, I have heard that in KC, it works just like youth baseball. Everybody
gets a turn at being closer, at least until Mike McDougal, the real closer, gets
back. Hopefully Dessens' parents have a good chair near the field for the next
two weeks.

That threadbare staff already is relying on arms hanging from the likes of
Tim Wakefield, Elmer Dessens and Brad Halsey.

I think the one in the middle is the one who is now the KC closer--having taken
that job from some guy named Asterisk Bogus, or something like that.
