I do agree that Swisher is undervalued. Apologies, Mark, if my the last message sounded harsh. I probably typed it too fast. In any event, I'll get back to the business of tracking Justin Huber's progress and annoying Jansen.

Humbly,

Andy "Fourth Place" Klein

Yes, Crisp is a name left off, but not intentionally. Selling high, however, does not necessarily mean the player will turn into a mess. If he still ends up with the numbers I mentioned, even at $7, Nick Swisher is undervalued-- to what extent is to up for debate, but you cannot simply say it's a bad decision.

Have fun tonight.

Hey, Doug ... how come you left Crisp off your list of ?names being thrown out??

Understand I?m saluting (not criticizing) you. You sold high in a big way with Swisher and deserve credit. Blocker should know better.

Look behind home plate about 20 rows up tonite. I?ll be wearing an Indians? hat and cheering on C.C. Sabathia!!

I'm glad that Mark has been vindicated-- I mean, it's not like I traded a .260'ish rookie outfielder in his second year (Granderson) and a "young stud" pitcher from the (gasp!) Detroit Tigers (Verlander) for an MVP (Vlad), two Cy Youngs (Zito/Colon) and a couple of other pieces (Cat/Guardado)-- man, you guys were howling at Rick for that "awful" trade!

Whatever you want to say, Swisher's going to hit 25-plus homeruns, drive in at least 80-90 rbis and (if re-upped) would be $7. Cantu had amazing numbers and is a middle infielder at $10 and his injury is not a wrist, elbow or anything that serious.

I've heard the names being thrown out there by people-- Crede, Gomes, Sizemore, all the usual (and very good) suspects left on the contending teams and if you want to say that Mark did not get the "most" for what he gave up, it's your opinion, but I would agree that the howling is sour grapes to a large extent.

Brad, you are exactly right on the issue of me wanting those guys next year-- if they play as they have, I'll be one of the many who will be looking to secure players for the year after next. Now if you will excuse me, I have an appointment with The Gambler and Jim Leyland as to his most recent performances-- Kerbs, I never promised you a rose garden......

Wow. Not the reaction I expected at all. At this point, either the criticism must be unfair, suggesting that maybe I am in the wrong place, or I just no longer know how to play the game in our league, in which case I am probably in the wrong place as well. Either way, I seem to be in the wrong place, and it all seems like a lot less fun than it was in the past.

Take it as a compliment. What are any of the contenders going to say--"Oh, goodie, Shabes is going to kick my butt now"? Or the non-contenders--"I'm so glad that Blocker's retention roster has actual major league players, unlike the magic beans I accumulated"? Think of yourself as the new A. J. Pierzynski of the USML.

You'll know you've really done it right when you hear anguished howls of outrage and calls for legislation to prevent similar shenanigans in the future. You're not quite there yet--but I'm willing to help you get there.

Mark

P.S. Now that we've all commented on the trade, how about last week's transactions?
