Brad:
I found a full account on the web....lots of blast-from-the-past names. Enjoy.
On July 1 <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_1> , 1990 <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990> , Hawkins pitched a no-hitter <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No-hitter> for the Yankees against the Chicago White Sox <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_White_Sox> at Comiskey Park <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comiskey_Park> but lost the game. Hawkins dominated the White Sox into the eighth inning, where he retired the first two batters. After that, Sammy Sosa <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sammy_Sosa> reached on a throwing error by Yankees third baseman Mike Blowers <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Blowers> . Hawkins then walked the next two batters. That brought up Robin Ventura <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Ventura> , who lofted a fly ball to left field. The blustery winds buffeted the ball, and rookie Jim Leyritz <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Leyritz> , normally a third baseman, booted it, allowing all three baserunners to score. The next batter, Ivan Calder?n <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_Calder%C3%B3n_%28baseball_player%29> , hit a fly ball to right field, which was lost in the sun and dropped by Jesse Barfield <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_Barfield> . The final count for the inning: four runs, no hits, three errors. The Yankees, who had not scored all game, were unable to score in the 9th inning, giving Hawkins the loss.
The 4-0 loss was the largest margin of a no-hitter loss in the 20th century, and Hawkins became the first Yankees pitcher to lose a no-hitter. On Sept. 4, 1991 the Committee for Statistical Accuracy, appointed by Commissioner Fay Vincent, changed the definition of a no-hitter to require that a pitcher throw at least nine full innings and a complete game. Since Hawkins played for the visiting team in the game in question, the White Sox never batted in the ninth inning, Hawkins lost the credit for a no-hitter.

I was at the Hawkins one, too!! Last year of Old Comiskey. Who was the Yankee LF that made those errors that allowed Sox to win 4-0? And I was bummed when later the MLB powers decreed it didn't count. Well, it did in my book.

Mark/Jeff....I hate to beat a dead horse, but are roster moves dating to last
Sunday still a work in progress? Can you perhaps confirm roster transactions
received via usmltrans?

In celebration of the Mark Buehrle no-hitter, I am interested to know if (1)
anyone went to the game last night, and (2) even if not, has anyone ever seen a
no-hitter?
I have seen one. At the old Comiskey, Sheila and I saw Andy Hawkins (then of
the Yankees) throw a no-hitter against the Sox, but the Yankees lost so there
was no mound celebration at the end.
Others?
