Hats off to Berliners, as well as to the Daddies and Klein 9, for making the
last few weeks more fun and interesting than I think most of us thought
they'd be. OK. Time for bed. Now where's that darn Prospect Planning,
2008 Ed. ?

There is an alternate site for AOL users that has the final stats. Mark is
right - Final Standings are Berliners, Hoosiers, Klein Nine, Republicans,
Bombers. But it was ridiculously tight for first place. 93.5 - 93.0.

Rick thought he needed three things to happen to pull out a last second
victory. Who would believe he'd get them all and still wouldn't win!! (GOP
passes me in BA, Rick passes Blocker in BA, and Rick puts up 5!! stolen
bases). What Rick hadn't accounted for was Aaron Laffey. Who's Aaron
Laffey, you say. Mr. Laffey is a 22 year old rookie who, along with the
valient Cleveland bullpen, pitched both the Cleveland Indians and the Win
Ick Ben Ein Berliners to victory. The Indians have been grooming Mr. Laffey
for the last few years in the minor league system. The Berliners picked him
up out of the free agent pool at 12:00 noon yesterday. Just goes to show
that its never over till its over.

My congratuations to Rick on a great season. I expect Rick to be a force to
be reckoned with next year as well. To anyone who has second guessed Rick's
decision to hold onto Curtis Granderson (and I, admittedly was among them),
guess again. 3 stolen bases on the final day of the season were nearly
enough to single handedly deliver the Damon to Rick. And rumor has it that
the offers for Curtis Granderson weren't exactly the sort you simply can't
refuse.

And, of course, kudos to Mark Blocker who managed to again successfully pull
off the Drive for Five. I don't know how he does it, but you've got to
admit....nobody does it better.

To Mr. Kerber - let's meet for lunch. I want that Damon on my mantle asap
since its definitely going to someone else next year.

Have a great offseason everyone. Given the fact that I'm headed into the
draft with two dead players, I'm already looking to deal. There's still
some interesting players on the Berliners roster - starting with a pitcher
by the name of Vasquez. Any Sox fans out there?
