Thank God I did not submit any FAAB bids the past two weeks...I am going to take
a two week vacation from work and consider it a wash....

I just called Mark B., and we clicked around the system to see if we
could figure out what was going on. With his blessing, I am sending a
note that should help everyone follow along.
1. When you click on your roster, it sends you by default to one period
ahead. So ... right now, you go directly to "Period 3", which starts on
4/13. If you click back to "Period 2", you can see your current roster.
2. If you made a roster move yourself, it should show accurately
everywhere -- Period 2, Period 3, and in Live Scoring.
3. However, if Mark B. made the roster move for you (as he did this
week after FAAB bids), it only shows correctly in Period 2 and in Live
Scoring. For some reason, these moves did not carry over to Week 3.
So, when Kerber hits his roster, it defaults to Period 3 and incorrectly
shows Aybar reserved. But if you click to Period 2 or Live Scoring, it
correctly shows Aybar to be active. This is bizarre, but at least the
system is scoring things accurately. Mark B. is writing to Sportsline
to see why this is the case. Until we sort it out, each player might
need to re-enter the Blocker-entered moves the following week to ensure
carry over. (Note: Don't do that yet. Wait to see if Mark gest an
answer from Sportsline.)
4. Mark B. has set the system to automatically process FAAB bids. The
deadline is midnight Friday. The system says that bids will then be
processed on Saturday morning. Like last year, this gives everyone time
to adjust their own rosters accordingly. This is a good thing in light
of the system's odd behavior described above.
5. If we get all this sorted out, we should be close to where we were
last year. The only information missing is a list -- even for the
commissioner -- of all bids. This is important for setting salaries of
purchased players and adjusting FAAB budgets. I talked about this with
The King over the weekend, as well as Mark B. this morning. I will let
them send official rules, but might suggest the following. After the
FAAB deadline, every player should circulate a list of their bids to the
listserv. No other information would be needed, just: Jones $20, Smith
$8, Williams $5. With that, we could see who else bid on a purchased
player, and make adjustments accordingly.
That is all.
Humbly,
Andy
