I am available on the night of the 17th and although I am scheduled to fly to meet a group of friends in Las Vegas on the 18th, I am prepared to change my flight to the following day, if necessary. I commend Rick for his similar response indicating his willingness to do whatever is necessary to make these dates work. I strongly encourage others to do the same.

I'd like to reiterate my suggestion that we all agree on a draft date for next year's draft before we leave the draft table (or in the case of John and Andy, before they hang up). This has now become an annual circle jerk that has finally led us to having to draft without two of our members in the room and doing so on a weekday night. Draft day is one of the best days of the year for me and I know that most, if not all, of you agree with me. As I said before, we agree on the date for next year's draft in two of my other leagues and we've never had a problem sticking to the date. When you know you have a committment, its just much easier to keep the date free. I'm already investigating when Spring Break is scheduled at my sons schools, so I'll be prepared on draft day.

'nuff said.

Now on to the much more important topic of trading. In light of our pre-opening day draft, it sure seems to me that my cheap minor leaguers on rookie contracts are even more valuable than before. You can rest assured that if I release them into the player pool, many of them will be drafted in the regular draft and therefore of much lesser value. Even if not drafted, they will go in the $15 and $10 rounds rather than their current $2 and $5 salaries As always, I can be reached at this email address or at 312-841-2817.
