[USML Announce] (no subject)

I'm sure Mr. Winick has his reasons for bringing up this subject, but those reasons seem a bit murky to me. This doesn't seem like a subject that a Bears fan would want to talk about. Unless the Packers have similar bad luck with injuries next year, and unless the Bears have similar good luck with injuries next year, thing aren't looking so hot for the Bears. Based on this season's results, we can conclude, with a fair amount of confidence, that the Packers currently have both better talent at the top and better depth than the Bears. And probably a better front office and better coaching, too. The Bears "success" this year was mostly the story of an average team that got lucky with injuries and few key plays in close games. Just good enough for the Bears to justify continuing to do things the same way they have been. So, unless the Bears get a hell of a lot better between now and next year, they probably just missed their golden opportunity.

During the same discussion Mr. Winick quotes, I confidently predicted that neither the Bears nor the Packers looked like real Super Bowl teams. I now know I was wrong about the Packers. I still think I was right about the Bears.

Mark

Mr. Blocker, true green Cheese Head that he is, in fact, perhaps the greatest
air weather fan in the history of sport. Sure he travelled to the Super Bowl.
ut this is the same guy who gave up on his team a mere weeks into the season.
hame on you Mr. B.

Now you have your excuses boys-injuries....congrats.

And as for you, Buddha-man, I have been waiting for your acknowledgment that
ou owe me breakfast. Please have it delivered to me at the draft.

 Buddha,

I don't rejoice at Grant's pain. I do celebrate the collective groan
that came from the Packer Nation when it was announced that he was out
 for the year.

The Bears are not good this year and the Packers are picked by a
majority of experts to be a Super Bowl contender. We both know that.
But it doesn't surprise me that a Packer fan would nonetheless propose a
straight up bet. That sums up the difference between a Bears fan and a
 Packers fan.

I accept your bet. The loser brings breakfast to the winner at next
 year's draft.

King. A wager on who finishes ahead of whom. And Grant is in crutches

And because John Fruit is, no doubt, waiting to proclaim his winning bet, I

 Buddha:

Attached are miscellaneous emails from USML-ers with football
predictions/comments made during the season. I can't say these predictions
seemed wrong at the time (although they look pretty bad now), but this
season just proves that a team needs to play its best football in
 December/January.

FYI, Ezra and I had a great time at the Super Bowl yesterday. Not only
was it thrilling to watch the Pack win and spine-tingling to watch in person
as they handed the trophy to A-Rod and the gang, but the Steeler fans made
the whole experience excellent. The classiest opposing fans I have ever
 witnessed.

33 yards from the running backs. Can't blame that on the penalties. NFL
teams that can't run don't go far. And this team can't run.

I'll call it now. Pack are 1 and done in the playoffs.

And the Bears hardly played a great game. If they keep improving they'll
smoke the Greenies up in Lambo.

Haven't seen such a stupid, poorly coached team since Wannstedt coached the
 Bears. The Packers suck.

Seriously, these guys are favored to win the Super Bowl? Really? They may
win the game (or not), but they suck. If I were a fan of the Greenies I'd be
 ashamed.

I assume all the big talk will wait until after the game is over. Now I
 understand why.
