I'm basing this solely on 2011 auction acquisitions: 

 

  $1 category:  Dayan The Tank Viciedo will be good next year (maybe) and
Jesus Vargas blessed us for awhile, but neither comes remotely close to Big
Papi and his 314 BA, 29 taters and 95 rib-eyes....keep a closer eye on Klein
next year when he starts counting off....

 

 $2 category: credit to Jeffrey Winick for two great picks: Ivan Nova (15
wins, 3.81 ERA, but caution flags abound with that high WHIP and low strike
out total) and Saltalamacchia (16 homers and 56 RBI--compare that to other
AL catchers, dear fellows)

 

 $3 category: special award to K-9 for picking up AJ Burnett, just 'cos
that's such a ballsy, self-destructive move.....
