Brad Lee,

Interesting. You list 6 teams but state that there are only 5
contenders. Who's the odd man out?

And is it really worth making a prediction when you've identified half
the league as your potential winner. Not really going out on a limb
much here, huh?

Jeff

Subject: [USML Announce] Let The Real Games Begin!

Finally, it's Opening Day in America. I cannot wait for the White Sox
to begin their 2012 campaign in Texas tomorrow and wonder how many
games they'll play before we get an opportunity to see who may close
out the rare victory.

Based on the league's current rosters, owners' in-season trade
tendencies (and, with regards to owners who do trade, the quality of
their moveable parts), and the depth of teams already stung by injury,
I boldly predict the following teams as:

CONTENDERS

Angry Young Men
Berliners
Nukes
Mighty Red Hots
Lake Michigan Calamari
Flaming Brats

Mind you, that list does not project their order of finish. But I think
the 2012 champion will emerge from among those 5 teams. The champion
will have to make bold, decisive moves on the trade front to reach the
finish line first. Each team has its share of shortcomings, but can
rectify at least some of them with its available talent pool.

With respect to the rest of the league, those teams (i) elected to
rebuild going into the draft, (ii) did not have a strong draft, (iii)
already have been ravaged by too many injuries to sustain the long and
bitter war ahead, or (iv) some combination of (ii) and (iii).

I encourage you to weigh in, but keep your remarks civil.
