BOSTON -- Red Sox center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury injured his right shoulder
while making a takeout slide into second base on Dustin Pedroia's 6-3
double play ball in the fourth inning of Friday's home opener against the
Rays. Ellsbury was on the ground in pain, and he walked off the field on
his own power after a couple of minutes. He had to leave the game, and Ryan
Sweeney entered in his spot in the lineup but played right field. Cody Ross
moved to Ellsbury's spot in center.

*LOSER*

Lake Michigan Calamari. Ellsbury's season-ending injury leaves the Squids
squirming as their *HOPES ARE HIGH AND DRY.*
