TORONTO -- The Toronto Blue
Jays<http://espn.go.com/mlb/team/_/name/tor/toronto-blue-jays>placed
right-hander Brandon
Morrow <http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/28734/brandon-morrow> on the
15-day disabled list Wednesday, retroactive to June 12, and recalled
infielder Yan Gomes
<http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/_/id/32108/yan-gomes>from Triple-A Las
Vegas.Morrow left nine pitches into Monday's start
against Washington after suffering a strained muscle in his left side. A
second round of tests Tuesday confirmed the initial diagnosis and Morrow
was placed on the DL. There is no timetable for his return.Morrow entered
Monday's game having won three of his previous four starts, a stretch in
which he also threw two shutouts. The former first-round pick has a
career-high three shutouts this season. He's 7-4 with a 3.01 earned-run
average in 13 starts. In 14 games with Toronto this season, Gomes is hitting
.226 with three homers and eight RBIs.

*LOSER*

Klein Nine. In rush to acquire light-hitting MI Jemile Weeks (.228), team
hurriedly dumped AL's best pitcher Chris Sale. With Morrow out
indefinitely, there's no question the Brats would have parted company with
minor league's top star D'Arnaud to land Sale, but K-9 went* BARKING UP THE
WRONG TREE*.

*WINNER*

Riptorns. Yan Gomes's multiple recalls to the Show clearly demonstrate to
the Jays as well as the USML that he provides the power promised but not
delivered by the likes of Lind and Snider and becomes yet another stud for
the Rips to trade as team ready to *GO OUT ON A LIMB*.
