Brad Lee,

That would be $50 for each.

And how about this for putting my money (or is that stomach) where my mouth is. I'll eat a bug if Pujols goes for less than $50.

(Dennis, I'm counting on you to help me out here.....)

Jeff

Jeff, is that fifty for both? Please be more precise if you intend to say something else, and I assume you do. Neither goes for fifty. That's my prediction.

So says the man who has spent heavily on protected pitching.

While I agree that the very top starting pitchers have all been retained, it looks to me like there's a reasonably deep pool of pitchers at the next tier. It's the offense where I think things are likely to get more interesting. Factoring in that: (i) most teams already have at least one top starting pitcher retained; and (ii) the historical hesitancy of this league to bid up pitchers, I expect the inflation factor on hitting to be quite high and the inflation factor on pitching to be relatively low. I figure Pujols and Fielder go for $50+.
