OK, I'll try.

Draft Day Strategy:

Don't over-study. Clear my mind. Let the Zen of the moment guide my thoughts and actions.
See if Brad will still do the Robertson/Salty deal so I can get out of the catcher mosh pit.
Get some quality hitters.
Don't buy a second established closer (unless I get one cheap), but pick up some quality arms that could fall into some saves.

What went right:

Nailed the Zen thing. Had a long bike ride and a nice Italian dinner on Saturday. Knew nothing on Sunday. Ignorance is beautiful.
Got the deal done. Didn't have to buy a catcher. (Waiting to see a constitutional amendment proposed to outlaw future pre-draft deals.)
Got plenty of power at least.
I think I got that last one done. Check with me in August.
Herrera (1), Porcello (4).

What went wrong:

Ended up with about 12 guys I know absolutely nothing about. Who are these guys?
Didn't get a deal done with Robbins at the end of the draft. I was shooting for bookend trades.
Got 14 clones of Rob Deer. Looking at an all-time franchise record for lowest BA.
Ate both a chocolate donut and a jelly donut at the same draft--donut equivalent of meat and dairy.
Konerko (26), Jeter (21), Reynolds (18)--WTF?

Great to see everyone. Dennis, welcome my friend to the show that never ends. Jim B, congrats and all the best to your wife and you. And to everybody else, it was great to see everyone looking so moderately healthy.

Now, let me propose something. This proposal certainly is not intended to displace Jeffrey's typically self-serving analysis of the draft, but I ask each team to consider posting its own critical and objective analysis of its draft day performance.

I will begin:

DRAFT DAY STRATEGY:
   * Avoid drafting Shoppach and Cervelli again.
   * Corner the market on SB by getting one more impact SB guy.
   * Draft decent SP for under $20.
   * Draft one reasonably priced thumper.
   * Pick up enough sleepers and keepers via auction and rotation draft to shop to Winick when his team crashes and burns in June.

WHAT WENT RIGHT
   * Arrived too late to gorge on doughnuts.
   * Personally escorted to draft by always affable Mark Kerber.
   * Elvis at 27, nice SPs from 7 to 17.
   * Restocked the Prospect Parade (Segura-1, yes!!).

WHAT WENT WRONG
   * Arrived too late to gorge on doughnuts.
   * Personally escorted to draft by always affable Mark Kerber.
   * Lind-21, Smoak-12, no thumpers and Andrus surrounded by the likes of Getz and Brignac.

OK--who's next??
