The Red Sox badly need for this to work out -- the conversion of Daniel
Bard from reliever to starter, that is. While the usual qualifiers apply
(sample size, quality of competition, etc.), here are Bard's numbers after
12.2 Grapefruit League innings: 7.11 ERA, 11 hits, 10 walks, six strikeouts.
CBSSports.com Insider Jon Heyman recently spoke to a pair of scouts who
don't think Bard is suited to rotation
detail<http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/jon-heyman/17851365/two-scouts-say-red-sox-erring-bard-should-be-in-the-pen>.
Looking at those numbers, it's easy to understand why.

Not a prospect, but any word on Wei-Yin Chen or Tsuyohsi Wada?

Didn't see Chen last week but I saw Wada, struggled to get to 89,
everything fringy. Hard to see him competing in the AL East.

Nukes may be unable to avert disaster with Bard pitching middle relief,
Wada pitching batting practice, and Jiminez trying to find way back to
Denver. Their 2012 championship campaign already *SMELLS LIKE A BOMB.*

With Bard back in pen, K-9 kan kount on Aceves to secure SP slot and anchor
the rotation as team *GETS A WHIFF OF SUCCESS*.
