began the season as the Sox closer, came off the 15-day disabled list and
was told by manager John Farrell on Tuesday afternoon that he will be
setting up for Andrew

Farrell also met with Bailey and delivered the same message.

NEW YORK -- The New York

Kevin

disabled list because of a lumbar spine sprain on Tuesday, adding to the
Yankees' long list of injured former All-Stars.

Youkilis had missed eight of the last nine games because of what manager
Joe Girardi had described as a stiff back. Youkilis played on Saturday,
which cost the Yankees the opportunity to back-date his DL stint.
