Can I get a quick rule verification.......

Regarding a player whose contract has not yet started to run but is soon to
lose rookie status, how does that impact his contract status for next year?
 Basically I want to know if moving Myers to my active roster will hurt his
contract status (assuming he loses rookie status this year).  If I activate
him, he then becomes a Y1 player this year and a Y2 next year i presume.
 But if I keep him on my reserve roster all season, is he a Y1 player next
year even if he has lost rookie status?
