[USML Announce] A Question about the 2013 USML Champion Red Hots

Andy,

No worries. He's just a Stanford guy that Rich wants to retain to bring back warm memories of his college days. There are (at least) two reasons why it should be of no concern:

1. He's a $10 bean, which as Mark K. pointed out last year (and despite the fact that 7 such players were retained this year) means he's worthless.
2. Most pre-draft projections have him going either #2 (Cubs) or #3 (Rockies) meaning that Rich will have wasted a draft pick/retention slot on him for 2 years in a row.

Most importantly though, I would recommend that you move your focus from Rich to the rest of the league. As Rick, Brad and others have correctly pointed out, this season is effectively over and the Red Hots are rightfully crowned as the presumptive 2013 USML Champions. Since it would be unimaginable for a team with this amount of undervalue to screw up a draft sufficiently to throw away the title, you would be wise to join the rest of us in the fight for 2nd.

Jeff

Just back from beautiful Sioux Falls and sorting through the retention
rosters.

First ... congrats, Rich. No way you could mess up on draft day enough
to avoid victory this year. But one question. Why does your 2013
championship entitle you to keep a minor leaguer who as listed as part
of the Pittsburgh system?

Humbly,

-Andy
