Yep - I was right. But you didn't listen then and you won't listen now. But this time, don't look for me to dump to you.

Is this like two years ago when you told me pre-draft that I needed to get Verlander or Lester or both in order to win?

We all remember how that turned out.

Skippy,

Now that you've completed your exhaustive analysis you must also see that the only way Rich doesn't win is if he fails to purchase 1 or 2 of the big dogs at Corner/Middle, right?

I prefer "inexpensive," and I pass no judgments on who should buy what players. I leave that to greater minds than mine (i.e., everyone else in the league).

But even your cheap software leads one to the inescapable conclusion that Rich needs to buy one or more of the top guys at corner and middle, right?

Fascinating. I assumed my inferior, $19 software would produce values that were only useful in a relative sense, but it has nearly the same inflated values for all of the players listed below. Thanks for the update, Jeff.

Seeing that most of us at the draft table will be utilizing Rotolab, I have a few questions:

1. Miguel Cabrera is listed as being worth $36, with an inflated value of $42. If John is going to start the bidding at $45, you've really got to let him have him at that price, right?
2. Felix Hernandez is listed as being worth $22 with an inflated value of $28. My instincts tell me that he's worth far more than that and I know that Skippy really wants him. How much is too much?
3. MOT Ian Kinsler is listed as being worth only $21 with an inflated value of $25. How much higher than $25 is it worth going to outbid Skippy and his attempts to price enforce?
4. Rotolab says Trevor Bauer isn't worth even a $1. We all know that's horribly wrong. But how high do I bid up John before it starts to get crazy?
5. Shane Victorino is listed as the most valuable outfielder even though he had a poor season last year and isn't getting any younger at 32 years old? Did Shandler make a mistake?
6. It's crystal clear that anyone in Rich's shoes would know that he had to buy one or more of the top guys at corner and middle. Rotolab says that the best players are Cabrera ($42), Pujols ($36), Reyes ($36), Beltre ($29) and Longoria ($27). Since Rich is almost certainly going to win anyway, do I: (i) let him have these guys at these prices, (ii) bid him up until I run out of money or (iii) count on Kerber to take care of the dirty work?

So many questions. So few answers. I'm still trying to figure this out, so I'll probably have more questions later today. TIA

Jeff
