CHICAGO - The Lubeasts have begun spring training with a core of players expected to help the franchise improve on its USML history.
"Finishing in the Top 10 in our league is simply not good enough," said general manager Frank Luby. "We have no choice but to do better than that. And we are encouraged that last year was not the worst Lubeasts season in USML history."
The Lubeasts spring training facility reflects these changes. Gone are the plaques commemorating the 2003 Tigers and the 2013 Astros. The team has released Rick Porcello, who won the 2015 Rich Yett "You Own Him?" Trophy, as well as Jonathan Singleton, who took home 2015 "Sam Horn, Only Worse" honors and starred in the 2015 Futureless game during All-Star week.
