Before we start comparing this trade to the worst of all time, allow me to point out that there wasn't a Lou Brock equivalent sent to me.

Here are the guys that I got:

Dustin Pedroia ($13) - 5 runs and 5 rbi.  No home runs, no stolen bases.

Kevin Pillar ($10) - 3 runs, 1 home run, 2 rbi and 2 stolen bases.

That's a total of $23 for 8 runs, 1 home run, 7 rbi and 2 stolen bases.  For comparison's sake, I spent $22 on Elvis Andrus and he's already delivered more in every single category - all by himself.

Most importantly, I merely said yes.  It was Andy who approached me with the deal.  And the trade is still way better than the one that Andy made for Joey Bats.

So I think to myself.  OK, I got screwed on Sam Dyson, who will never see the 9th inning of a major league game again.  But at least Jeff threw in that Lourdes Gurriel guy from Cuba.  With the Jays struggling (and playing the likes of Darwin Barney), there's a good chance he'll be with the big club in short order.  But then ...

<<

Lourdes Gurriel was removed from his minor-league debut when he came up limping while running the bases in Tuesday's game for High-A Dunedin.

After appearing in a few spring training contests with the big-league club, the Jays' No. 7 prospect began 2017 in Dunedin on the seven-day DL. Tuesday's occurrence appeared to be a problem with the same leg that hindered Gurriel originally. The organization has no reason to push his recovery and risk long-term problems, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Gurriel land right back on the DL -- for an extended period -- in the coming days.

Damn.  I might as well have traded for Ernie Broglio ...

-Andy
