[USML Announce] USML - simple proposal

I tried to type pencile and missed the c. Recognizing that without the “c” you end up with a word that ole Mikey would regard as naughty, I think we’d better come up with another way to describe him. I couldn’t come up with just one, but I had lots of thoughts. In the interest of keeping politics out of this discussion, I will stop now.

A rationale would require identifiable cognitive activity. Nothin Pencile about that.

Pence-type rationale? That cries out for a new word: maybe "pencile"? It means dull, wooden, and equipped with a big eraser.

Having said that ... I agree with Andy! I'll take the Damon* under these circumstances.

I think the reasoning is what others suggested - we need a point of clarity, particularly for trading purposes. ... The 1994 parallel is a good one. MLB never crowned a champion, but we did - asterisk or not! Of course, it would be odd to be champion of a 40-game season. But all of 2020 is odd. And to paraphrase David Ross, if they're handing out the Damon, I want it coming my way ...

Why would we crown a champion if they don’t finish the season? Not in favor of that piece.

Looks good to me. Just to be clear, though ... if the season gets cancelled before August 16, we revert as Buddha suggests, wiping out all trades/FAAB and starting 2021 with the teams we drafted/retained for 2020.

League: Here is a simple proposal to deal with 2020 and reduce complications: if there are MLB games played on or after August 16, we will treat this year as a season and proceed with all of our usual rules (champion crowned, contracts are running, usual rules in 2021 on keepers and otherwise, except for position eligibility), even if MLB later suspends operations and plays no further games (including no playoffs).

Rationale: Aug. 16 is the first day to begin bean trading. Once that begins, trading teams have to know the rules that apply.
