No worries.  As they say, all’s well that ends well.  And I am pleased to bid adieu to Kelvin.

I remain optimistic that baseball will figure out a way to deal with this outbreak and the season will continue.  But MLB may want to start by not allowing the players to overrule the agreed upon protocol and choose to play when they know
that a few of their fellow ballplayers are infected.  Just saying….

Responding on Q1.  My recollection is that we have never allowed FAAB bidding in the first week right after the draft and generally not until the first full
week after the season started. Consistent with recollection, the proposed calendar I circulated said that FAAB bidding would begin on 7/26 with moves being effective 8/2. I don’t recall anyone objecting to that entry in the calendar.

Putting aside the obvious question of why FAAB didn’t start yesterday, when does FAAB start?

My recommendation with respect to the second question is that we simply treat this season as though it wasn’t played if the season isn’t completed.  People would go into next year with their current rosters and
would make their cut downs from there.  I would think that contracts wouldn’t have run this year if there was no season, but I defer to the wisdom of the league on that issue.

League:  A giant mess on two fronts.

1.  Some but not all teams submitted FAAB bids yesterday, apparently because some forgot that there was no FAAB bidding this past week (see my email
with the schedule of dates). I am going to work with Onroto to reverse all of those transactions, but let me know what corrective actions the affected teams want to take that involved the same players that were waived or reserved.

2.  On the real world front, the cancellation of several games today is a concern.  I wonder if this season is really going to get played? We may
want to start considering contingency plans.
