There’s also the unwritten rule that all benefit of the doubt will be applied against the Berliners, but that’s the only other one that comes to mind.

Anecdotally I have heard it explained differently and in line with the Constitution, namely, that low primary (non-contingent) bids trump contingent buds, even if the latter are higher.

We’ll see eventually whether this makes a difference, but we’re in a close race. Can we now explicitly document this rule and, while we’re at it, any other unofficial ones?

Thanks!

Exactly. Onroto processes the bids in order of bid blocks (I think), so somebody's second choice in their first bid block (contingent) actually comes ahead of somebody else's first choice in their second bid block. So this is one of the situations in which we let onroto do its thing even though it departs from the written rules. I once whined and complained about this, but we decided not to try to override the system.

I'm pretty sure that's how the onroto system works. If a contingent bid comes into play, it competes with primary bids and the higher one wins. My dim memory is that we once had our own rule that was opposite, but decided to let the system do its thing and not have Mark have to unwind things like this.

Good morning all,

Interesting round of bidding, as always.

But I don’t understand why the Brats got Garcia with a contingent bid when I made a non-contingent bid for him.

How does that work?

Thanks,
Frank
