And yet, despite all of this, Jonny Gomes remains the The Man. At least until he is eclipsed by Casey Kotch(the)Man.

As a community service, I thought I'd report on positive developments involving the contending teams. Here's today's news.

1. Berliners. Randy Johnson and Michael Cuddyer might not go on the DL.
2. Bombers. Rafael Palmeiro may play baseball again some time this year.
3. Brats. Runelvys Hernandez still has a really cool name.

That is all--for now.

Hmmmm - somebody's feeling their oats. We'll see how long that lasts. By the way, I hope that back problem for Kotsay isn't too bad. You know how those back injuries can really sap a guy's power. But I'm sure its nothing, its not like its a chronic problem, right?

As for my team, it looks like I'll have to play Ozuna instead of Cuddyer. Wow, that just takes the starch right out of my offense.

As for Johnson, he's had back problems forever. I'd just as soon he get things loosened up before he heads back out to the mound. Its not like I just traded for Washburn.

But Mark, you didn't mention Durazo, who's out for the year, Lugo - who's nursing a sore knee, and I-Rod and Millwood who were both suspended.

I'm screwed. I probably should just concede, but I'll hold off for awhile.

And don't worry about PT. At this point he looks like a lock for 5th. The Drive for Five continues (even after his attempts at actually making trades). As for Palmeiro, he'll definitely be back. But remember how Giambi looked when he went off the roids? Expect the same from Raffy. And as for Giambi, when do you think his results are going to come back positive? And you didn't mention Boone (who looks to be out of baseball), Campillo (who looked so promising for what? a day), Torii Hunter, who's out for the year and Jody Gerut who's now in Pittsburgh. I don't know how he does it - but he's going to finish 5th once again. The guy is a genius.

As I think I said the other day - Hoosiers remain the prohibitive favorite. But I've got to believe that the movement this weekend will at least give him something to think about.
