The assumption of Bud being a tool is that he doesn't want exactly what he gets....He tried to shut down the Twins not because they weren't decent or profitable but because it would've increased the value of his franchise.  He bought the Brewers from John Allen for $21.6 million.  He sold them to Mark (some Italian-Greek) Atanassio for $221 million.  And in tghe meantime picked up the job as Commissioner of Baseball at a salary of $5 million per.  He may look a geek and give the appearance he is "fighting for the fan" but he is brilliantly putting cash in everybody's pocket--including his own.   That is not a tool.
