[USML Announce] Sullen Young Men

Took the words out of my mouth, Jeff. There's a *lot* of baseball yet to be played.

Of course, Doug, you could always make a massive dump deal to Robbins. I'm sure the Red-Hots would be ready to duke it out down the stretch.

Doug,

Sportsmanship is not a concept familiar to Brad Lee. His idea of being a good sport is limiting a celebration to EITHER poking fun at his opponent(s) OR crowing loudly about his victory, BUT not both at the same time.

As for whether or not the concession is premature I refer you to some of the great Klein collapses of year's past. Andy's ability to choke down the stretch makes the 69 Cubs pale in comparison. So, although Mark K. has never suffered through the same kind of stretch run failure - you never know. I'd say give it at least another month. There are still potential waiver wire deals, still lots of time for unexpected injuries and the odd possibility that Mark revisits an old Nuke strategy where he shuts down his pitching to preserve ERA and Ratio, all the while watching his leads in the counting categories evaporate. You just never know. Hang in there.

As for Brad's premature crowing about being ahead of the Berliners, everyone should take note of the fact that Brad Lee has almost no chance whatsoever of making the innings minimums, meaning that his total is artificially inflated. He should be more worried about staying ahead of PT/KR than hanging with me.

That is all.

Jeff Winick

Well, Brad Lee, if you wish to say that the Cubs (if we are talking about the team that plays at Wrigley Field NOT the Andy Klein-coached little leaguers who play their guts out night in and night out despite being fed generic popcicles from the local Meijer's) have any heart, then I have a Shane Costa to sell you....oh, sorry, wrong name.

Sportsmanship, Brad Lee, there's no shame in it as long as you've done your best.

I'm sorry, but not even the Cubs have issued congratulations to the Cards, Reds, Brewers or whoever is ahead of them. Winning takes more than talent--it takes a heart, Sir Douglas. Did I send off some email congratulating Jeffrey when he passed me in the standings, then sent out some chest thumping email to tout his "success." Of course not. And look at the standings, if your eyes ever gaze below 2nd place. Who stands taller than the Berliners today? The Rips, my friend, so I'm saving my congratulations until the last breath is beaten out of my body and I suggest you do the same.

Speaking of breathless bodies, are any of my lame ass legal brethren running in tonight's Race Judicata 5K, or are you too busy with your billables to help raise some money for the CVLS? Jeffrey, I know you for one treat your body like a temple, so I know you'll be out there....

I hardly consider a congratulations part of a pity party, Sir Mix-A-Lot. It seems as though you may not be familiar with good sportsmanship--- that would be a foreign idea to some teams......Once again, congrats to the Nukes!

Oh, quit the pity party. Save it for losers like the Berliners.

When Mark DeRosa hits a pair of three-run homeruns in consecutive innings, you know it's time to fold up shop and offer congratulations to the 2006 USML Champion Nukes.
Great work, Mark, enjoy the Damon. We humbly admit defeat and will begin resting the aging veteran stars.
