On a semi-related matter, I received the following  e-mail yesterday.  I am 
outrgaged -- OUTRAGED -- that Jeff Winick was not  given a speaking slot at 
this conference.  I think an organized boycott  is in order.

What is it about $9 pitchers that gets you into such a lather?  DUMP  has 
been following Mr. Bonser and thinks he has nice potential.  He could  be a 
decent middle of the rotation starter for the Twins.  His $9 salary  means that he 
has very little upside and doesn't look like much of a keeper to  us.  But 
given your disdain for prospects (as demonstrated by the utter  lack of them on 
your roster) he might just be one of the best potential  keepers you've got.
 
As for Mr. Hansen, I'm now seriously concerned that you've been spending  too 
much time with PT/KR.  "his first bad outing in a month"???  Do  you even try 
to check out the facts before you throw this stuff out?  All  you have to do 
is go back two outings and FOUR DAYS to the 16th and see that  when given his 
last opportunity to hold a lead, he blew yet another save.   One inning 
pitched, one hit and one earned run.  Surely that isn't an  outing that COPS regards 
as good.  So....in a four day period he blows  the two leads he's given.  
Yep, you COPS guys sure are objective when it  comes to prospects.
 
But there is some good news.  There is no need for a boycott of this  year's 
AFL conference.  You'll be relieved to know that I will, in  fact, be 
speaking.  There's a session where all of the members of the XFL  will be on a panel 
to discuss the strategies employed in this year's  draft.  Your's truly will be 
one of the featured speakers.  Not  only should you not boycott, you should, 
finally, after all these years of  my begging, come down to Arizona and join 
me.  Alex Patton is going to be  there and I promise to introduce you.
