With all the crap that The Professor has given PT/KR about his acquisition
of Nick Swisher, I thought it only fair to point out the following:

Of the 19 AL players that hit more than 30 home runs in 2006:

There are only 3 with salaries of 10 dollars or less.
Frank Thomas ($1)(Berliners), Joe Crede ($7)(Berliners) and the one and only
Nick Swisher ($2).

Of the other 16 players:
6 have salaries of $30 or more (Ortiz, Hafner, Rodriguez, Ramirez, Sexson,
Wells)
3 have salaries of $20 to $29 (Thome, Glaus, Hunter); and
4 are free agents (Morneau, Konerko, Teixeira, Guerrero).

That leaves only:
Jermaine Dye ($16)(GOP)
Jason Giambi ($12)(Bombers)
Raul Ibanez ($19)(Klein)

as relative bargains.

Therefore, with 6 guys definite keepers (Thomas, Crede, Dye, Giambi, Ibanez
and Swisher) and rumors flying regarding the potential retention of the big
power bats like Ortiz, Hafner,Thome, Ramirez and Rodriguez, it would appear
that power is going to be at a serious premium in this year's draft.

Bravo to PT/KR for carefully evaluating the market and making a wise
decision to acquire the best power bat keeper available.

That is all.
