Jeff:

Thanks for doing a little investigating. I will hold off on re-registering our league until I hear further league commentary.

What with the recent injury to Gordon, I thought you'd include him on the list of players, too. I sure hope that shoulder is okay.

On a more important note, I just finished attending the Shandler Seminar in Oak Brook. There were more than 50 people there representing no less than 30 different leagues. Better than 90% of them used TQ Stats last year. Not a single one will be using TQ Stats this year. Having heard their stories and found out a bit more about the company that now owns TQ Stats, I want to lobby strongly in favor of moving sites. Many of these leagues lost data during the season (i.e. rosters were "inadvertently" deleted), many found mistakes in the data compilation and all were subject to periodic interruptions in service. Last year the company that operates TQ Stats (CDM) was in the midst of being sold to FUN Technologies. Now FUN Technologies is looking for another buy so they can get out of the business. Putting aside whether you can really trust a company called FUN Technologies, i f they're selling, things could get ugly.

The good news is that there are at least a few good candidates for new sites. I can personally vouch for All Star Stats, but it is a bit more expensive than what we are now using, www.allstarstats.com . Although I have no experience with the site, a number of the guys at the seminar were switching to an Illinois based company called Custom Stat, located at www.customstat.com It looks pretty good and its cheap. Then again, sometimes you get what you pay for.

Regardless of where we end up, it appears that TQ Stats may be in trouble. Let's move our league to a site with which we can have a bit more confidence.

Rips players that may interest teams and are available for trade include Jim Thome (26), Lyle Overbay (20), Dan Johnson (5), Boof Bonser (9), Zach Greinke (2). If interested, advise. I am not going to Las Vegas.

Players I would make available for the right offers are Melky Cabrera, Jesse Crain, Carl Pavano and/or Jose Lopez.

Anybody have interest?? I leave for Vegas Wednesday morning so time is creeping.
