[USML Announce] FAAB Fun

The way I see it - there are only two reasonable solutions. We either process the bids under the traditional/constitution method or we follow how the website played it out this week.

I should have won Bay under the USML constitution method. There is no question that my $74 bid was the most anyone bid on him this week.

To the extent any of you want to take the view that we've all agreed to surrender our FAAB process to the website (at least for processing) - - for whatever reason, the site decided not to operate the Bay auction this week. Under that scenario, my Bay bid is a nullity (actually it still shows in my queue for next week's possible transactions) and my Texiera bid should count as this week's non-contingent bid which I won with $69. Bay would be available for all teams to bid on next week. I'll also point out that I didn't have any insider knowledge on how to make the contingent bid process work. Rather, I tested the possibilties on the add/drop page and it worked the way it did. Everyone else in this league could have done the same thing and I don't think there's anything improper about my actions. I shouldn't be penalized because most of you didn't do the same.

Under either scenario, I win one of these 2 free agents. Frankly, at this point I don't care which one I get (and I am saying this without seeing how any MLB games or stats played out today). But I feel that I get hosed with a global do-over in which everyone gets to enter new bids by Friday of this week for all of last weeks' players. So I agree with Andy - no to the do-over proposal.

Just back from out of town. Here's my two cents.

I have been doing contingent bidding all year, and the system is not
that complicated. It processes bids in the order you enter them, and
then stops when it cannot do so any longer. This occurs when the player
chosen for waiver is gone (because he was waived through a prior bid --
the later bids are essentially contingent). Or it would happen if
someone ran out of FAAB money. Salary cap is not part of the system.
It is up to the player who wins the bids to adjust rosters accordingly
before Sunday noon. Also, as everyone knows, due to our "eBay" system,
Mark B. manually adjusts salaries of players purchased through FAAB.

I don't know what happened with the Bay bidding. But it sounds like Jim
B. should have won him, but then ran out of money for his other bids. I
think that I am due Nady. The only question to me is his salary -- i.e.
is it $30 or $50-something based on Jeff's contingent bid. Jeff
accurately described our disagreement on that point, and I am happy to
elaborate on my opinion if that becomes relevant.

In any case, I strongly object to tossing out all bids and starting over
next week.
