Let me clarify how I responded to Andy's e-mail. If a player is ADDED to the AL player database, then the drop period applies (e.g. interleague trades). If the player is already in the database but simply called up from the minors, I believe you can pick him up right away, without the one day delay. Again, I plan to observe over the next few days to see how this works. I know for a fact that Bay and Griffey were listed with asterisks when added to the player pool, which makes me believe owners can readily determine who can be acquired via FAAB and when.

This is the kind of issue where I think we should live with system. So, Mark, if I understand this, a player who joins the AL on Friday would not be eligible for FAAB bidding until the following week. Is that right?

For the curious, below is the response I received from CBS Sportsline to
my inquiry about the Jason Bay/Ken Griffey issue. To elaborate on their
response, it sounds like whenever a player is added to the AL player pool,
he is not eligible for FAAB bidding until he clears our selected "drop
period." I checked our league settings and that period is set by default to
two days. This means players added to the pool on Thursday or later (which
would have been true for both Bay and Griffey, I believe) would not have
been eligible for FAAB bidding.
Frankly, I had no idea that the drop period had any impact on FAAB
bidding, and that is certainly not obvious from the description of it on the
system. In any event, I have now re-set the drop period to the lowest
number possible -- one day (the system will not allow you to set the drop
period to zero days). This still has the effect that players added to the
pool on Friday will not be eligible for FAAB bidding. I think that is
simply a consequence that we will have to live with.

Based on when the players are added to the player pool, they will have to
clear the drop period you selected before they will become available, and if
this was after your FAAB run, then it would be pushed to the following week.

We use an AL-only player pool, with FAAB evaluator run on Friday night.
Right after the interleague trade deadline, two players came into the AL:
Jason Bay and Ken Griffey. However, the evaluator program did not process
any bids for these players (which were listed in the system with an
asterisk), but instead said that the evaluator program would run the
following week for those players. Can you explain why? Thanks.
