I'm the real strict constructionist here. What's not clear about "at any time and for any reason"?

You challenged me on the exact same provision during the Mike and Brad Reign of Terror.  (I think it was the year you aced me out for the title by one stinkin' hit or walk in the WHIP column.)  You came up with some poetic crap about me playing with empty slots on my roster being contrary to the spirit of the rules, and then I noticed that you were playing with NL or DL players (can't recall which) on yours.  Your were wrong then, and you're wrong now.  As long as we have a constitution, I will reserve or activate any player on my roster "at any time and for any reason."  (Cue patriotic music over video of the USML flag and exploding fireworks.)

   Let me first say that I am not a constitutional scholar. I'm not any kind of scholar.  But I offer two points. First,  I don't read the "object" article simply as a restriction so much as a statement of the common  goal or intent of the AL fantasy league (i.e., the object of baseball is to play a game between two teams of nine players and score more runs than the opponent; I suppose one can say that the game's object imposes a restriction, but on both teams that play the game). 
  Second, when I read that article of our Constitution and couldn't find any provision that expressly allows teams to put FAs or NL players on their active rosters, I just figured, "Hey, are we an AL fantasy league or what?"--or words to that effect. Call me a strict, old constructionist, but I seek only to preserve the purity, sanctity and beauty of our AL fantasy league. Keep NL players on reserve if you must have them, especially if they were drafted as AL players, traded during the season to NL, and may return to the AL next season--I certainly can appreciate that. But, please, I beg you, don't defile the good USML by allowing NL players on active rosters.

There are no restrictions on the ability of a league team to activate a player that has been properly acquired.  In fact, at least a couple of provisions assume that this is the case.  Most importantly, once a player has been acquired (in any way permitted by the constitution), then:  "A League team may demote a player from its Active Roster to its Reserve Roster or promote a player from its Reserve Roster to its Active Roster, at any time and for any reason."

I think, historically, several FAs or National League players have remained on league active rosters for salary reasons.

Regarding Jeff's discussion of policy in other leagues, no such policy appears in our constitution. As always, we can entertain an amendment if that's the collective desire.  However, unless and until we do so, I will reserve or activate Valverde "at any time and for any reason" as expressly permitted by Article XIII.

Jeffrey, please see the very first article of our Constitution, quoted below. It would seem that any other provision that contradicts the object of the USML is void ab initio. 

Article I. Object
To assemble a lineup of 23 American League baseball players whose cumulative statistics during the regular season, compiled and measured by the methods described in these rules, exceed those of all other teams in The USML Rotisserie Baseball League (the "League").
