[USML Announce] Paul Hornung

I think the answer to your question would have to be either "you" or "BL Jansen". It certainly wasn't me. I was talking about Payton's performance on the field and the way that he treated his opponents. He was respected because he was a great player and he let his play on the field speak for itself. No Tony the Tiger roars (e.g. Clay Matthews), no dirty play (e.g. Charles Martin). Walter just gave it his all, got up after he was tackled and lined up for the next play. I understand that as a Packers fan the concept of being a class act is foreign to you. But that is what I meant.

Jeff

who was arguing whether Paul Hornung was a notorious carouser? You said Walter Payton was universally regarded as a class act when it seems his own wife would disagree. I'm just not sure whether Paul Hornung was as classy as to hand out laughing gas to his teammates, but I suspect Lombardi might have had something to say about that if he did.

So now we're talking adultery? That's the standard by which we're going to measure whether Payton was a class act? Well, I have to hand it to you John, by that standard it turns out that you might have been right all along.

Paul Hornung's most famous quote came in response to the question of why he got married in the morning. His response:

"Never get married in the morning - you never know who you might meet that night."

Sounds like Mr. Hornung set an outstanding example for Brett to follow.

Point number __ on the list of reasons to hate Packer fans.

Only a Packer fan would demean the memory of one of the all time great football players - a player universally regarded as a class act. The same, sadly can never be said of a Packer fan in the act of being a Packer fan.

'nuff said.

As for getting the chance to shake his hand - I have to admit that's pretty cool. Even this Bears fan has to admit that Hornung was one of the all time greats.
