The Devil Rays selected 3B Evan Longoria with the third overall pick in the 2006 draft.
Longoria is the best college position player available, but that says more about the lack of collegiate hitting talent than it does about his potential for stardom. He should move quickly through Tampa Bay's system and should hit for solid batting averages and mid-level power. 
 
Hardly encouraging.

	Many of you may recall that this was Mark Kerber's super-secret top scoring college/high school prospect.  It would appear that he is so super-secret that the MLB teams haven't heard about him either.  We're now half way through the 3rd round and the name LaPorta has yet to be called.
