FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Manager Bobby Valentine was purposely reticent Sunday
morning when he said "there might be a health situation" in the Red Sox's
bullpen, and multiple reports have pegged closer Andrew Bailey at the
center of that situation. The right-hander reportedly has a thumb injury,
and he could be on the disabled list on Opening Day for a second straight
season. Acquired in a trade from the A's this offseason to replace the
departed Jonathan Papelbon, Bailey threw 26 pitches in a Minor League game
Wednesday, but he hasn't appeared in a Grapefruit League since March 25.
