[USML Announce] Order Has Been Restored

Brad Lee,

You sound a little ferklempt. Perhaps a nap is in order. Sometimes that helps a man of your age.

Tank Viciedo may very well hit 25 home runs. But there's certainly nothing in his performance to date that suggests that is a likely outcome.
Miguel Sano is a fine prospect. But his arrival is far from imminent and we know how prospects sometime struggle on their way to stardom (see e.g. Montero, Myers and most of the bums that you've traded me over the years).
Nate McLouth has a meager 4 home runs and 11 rbi to go along with those runs and stolen bases, so it's not like it's all roses with this guy. And I'm certain no one has forgotten that he's just one season removed from almost being chased out of baseball for his lackluster defense coupled with an inability to hit. Could he finally be a productive outfielder? Sure. Could he just as easily turn back into a bum? Sure.
Mark Reynolds batted .198, .221 and .221 over the last three years. Sure, he's batting .257 right now. But what does that mean he's going to bat for the balance of the year if things stay true to form?
Buchholz is getting skipped because of soreness. Not that you'd trade him anyway, but all of a sudden he looks a little less of a sure thing.
Chris Sale is awesome and will be until the day he breaks down. I'm just saying.
And that leaves Mike Trout. Let's see if you can walk the walk, Mr. Jansen. The Nukes say they're ready to rock and roll. Do you have the cojones to come after me?

Jeff

Dear Jeffrey:

I don't know what I did or said to warrant such a vituperative attack on my players' talent. Once again, you engage in the shameful rhetoric of attacking your opponents when you have nothing of substance to offer (in this instance, any meaningful cheap keepers). I only will say this about my players who you attacked, since I find no one on your team worthy of comment in any event:
      * Tank Viciedo actually is $6, and I fully expect that he will be at the 25 HR mark come October and even better in 2014.
      * Miguel Sano actually is $2 and if you can find a better minor league prospect, he certainly is not on your team.
      * You somehow overlooked Nate McLouth-$1, revitalizing his promising career atop the Orioles' lineup and the AL leader board in steals and runs. You also bypassed the slugger Mark Reynolds-$10, he of the substantial HR totals and mufti-position eligibility. These are the types of players (along with established stars like Trout, Buchholz, et al.) that seasoned roto players seek out in dump deals. not the likes of the children on your reserve roster (who shall remain nameless because, as I said earlier, I am not about attacking my opponents).
      * And as far as your cheap shot about Chris Sale, all I say is compare his numbers to Verlander and Sabathia, the other comparably priced superstars of AL pitching. I sort of like Chris Sale.
Remember this: this season is dedicated to Jesus Montero and I shall avenge that terrible trade. May you sleep well tonight, Brother Jeffrey, for it may be your last moment of peace this baseball season.:

Anyway, here's to the veterans (my late fathers-in-law among them).

Brother Brad Lee,

How exactly is this dismantling of the Berliners title dreams going to happen? Because the only thing I've seen so far is the dismantling of any title hopes of the Riptorns for both 2013 and 2014. Let's take a look....shall we?

6 players near or below the Mendoza line. That might be a league record. And the pitching, while excellent so far, is built upon a foundation of Chris Sale's fragile arm.

But the real problem is that your "keepers" aren't keepers.

No way does even the sweet talking Brad Lee talk someone into taking Mike Moustakas and his guaranteed contract off his hands.
Viciedo is cheap at $4, but that salary happens to match the number of home runs he's hit. Yawn.
Middlebrooks and his .201 average and ongoing health issues aren't likely to generate much interest.
Sano, Bogaerts, Williams are all $5 beans, but they're not exactly on the brink of producing at the big league level.
Singleton has a drug problem to go with his $10 salary and Myers looks like he just might be toast.
And other than Buchholz, there really isn't much in the way of "keepers" among your pitchers.

So where does that leave you? You've got Mike Trout. I dare you! And that begs the question of how a team can trade away a guy like Trout and get enough back to dramatically improve.

You're toast Mr. Jansen. As your friend I feel it is my duty to administer the strong medicine. Find someone to dump to and don't wait too long. You may still be able to contend in 2014.

Jeff

Gentle Brother Jeffrey:
Whenever I hear of an attorney and a perfect trial record, my response is: "Really? Try more cases then."
Alright. Enough sympathy. Listen and her me well, my friend: I am glad you now have time to devote all your attention to the USML. In fact, your timing could not have been better since you are about to watch the Berliners' Damon dreams go up in flames. The only victory in the USML you will be assuming is mine.
I have waited for months for you to finish this trial and quietly bided my time. Now that your little distraction is over you can enjoy watching the Riptorns dismantle any hope you have of finishing first. You are not the only team with keepers or overhyped prospects.
So stand back,my friend. It's gonna get hot in here.

To 2014 and beyond!
Brother Brad Lee

P.S. I will move keepers.

Gentlemen and Brad,

Trial is finally over. 2 years of preparation and 3 and 1/2 weeks of uninterrupted hell. Unfortunately, despite my valiant efforts, the client's reputation (and my formerly perfect trial record) are no longer unsullied. As bad as that is for both the client and me, it is worse news for anyone who tries to get between me and the Damon. There is only one way to right this wrong (actually, there are many ways, including post trial motions and the appeal, but that's a different story). All of my attention will go to assuring victory in the USML.

The team was admittedly without direction for the last month. And it showed. But I'm back and the team has immediately responded by returning to its rightful place at the top of the standings. John Lackey looks like the pitcher of old. John Danks is back and firing bullets. Chris Young has decided to try to get his BA back above .200. Manny Machado looks like he will be joining Trout and Harper as the poster boys for the next generation of superstars. Matt Moore looks like he's set to replace David Price as the Rays' ace.

And it isn't even June 1st. And you know what that means. I'll be contacting many of you to see if anyone is looking toward 2014. The Berliners are about to get even stronger. If you're interested and I haven't gotten to you quickly enough - please contact me. There are deals to be done.

Happy Memorial Day weekend. It is good to be back!

Jeff
