Now you’ve done it Mr. K, you’ve further guaranteed that Mr. B will return to his annual Drive for Five ways.

I don’t have a strong feeling either way about their eligibility this year, though given how late players are signing, I do think that, at a minimum, we ought to change the rules for future drafts.  It makes no sense to me that we should have a loophole that allows a $40+ dollar player to potentially go in the reserve draft.

But I’m nearly certain this isn’t going to be a problem.  Let’s not get our tights all twisted up at this point.  Pitchers and catchers report in just a few short weeks.  Let’s celebrate the return of baseball instead.

Re the auction, that's bullshit.  We have a rule, and we're not going to change it in the off-season just because that would be more convenient for some folks.  I was very conscious of finishing 5th last year, and I'm not going to get screwed.

First, I don’t think they’ll be unsigned by March 15th, but I would agree that they should be eligible for the auction with the express understanding that if they sign in the other league they must be dropped.

As for where they land, I say Machado in Philadelphia and Harper in Washington.

And my prediction: at way less $$$ than they are seeking.  Last year, JD Martinez signed in mid-Feb. for reference.

Proposal:  if they are unsigned by March 15, they should either be (1) eligible for the auction or (2) ineligible for rotation draft.
