Great work, but I can remember when such thoughts were sacrilegious in the Berliner camp.

It’s a sad day when a father gets arrested for trying to talk to his kids. The Nukes will continue to offer young Elijah their support, understanding and counsel.

And Brad, knock it off or you dead, dog. I ain’t kiddin.

The Rips, like Mr. Dukes, need some adult supervision.

Probably the best name trade in league history, even after the negative contribution from Hayden Penn.

I had always suspected that hearing “My Sharona” too many times could
cause brain tumors. Did you know they used to play it both to open and
close their shows–no doubt because they had so few other things to play?

What about the Man Behind the Man?  I mean Saks, of course.  Remember the Rips in their prime?  Silent Mike in the background, pulling the strings on the little Brad marionette (and occasionally kicking Brad under the table on draft day when he thought no one was looking).  The Dick Cheney of the USML.*

Isn’t it obvious what’s happened with the Angries?  Hail to Brad Saks, the new master puppeteer!

I want to join both organizations. I know that every trade I’ve ever participated in has been fair and equitable to both (or all) parties, except of course on the many occasions when I allowed myself to be fleeced. However, even in the latter category, I went into those deals with my eyes open and have only myself to blame.

P.S. I my view, the current rules work as well as can be hoped for, and maybe “better” than they really should. If people are hosing themselves by giving up the AL All-Star team in exchange for a couple of Carlos Penas, the market itself will discipline them by relegating them to years of lower division finishes.

Since I already own David Wells, I think I should own Sauerbeck, too. I can corner the market on pitchers who do really stupid things while drunk. I love it when the “woman” is un-named. Sort of lets one imagine who she might be–stripper, hooker, girlfriend? (Too bad Ponson is out of the league.) Is this a category? If not, shouldn’t it be?

    Apropos of absolutely nothing:

The original horse whisperer was a Southern California thoroughbred trainer named Monty Roberts. He based his techniques for breaking and training young horses on ancient Native American methods. His son, Marty, was a college classmate and wrestling teammate of mine (and also a pretty good high school rodeo cowboy–actually a varsity sport in the part of the country).

P.S. Brad: Time to give the Shabes voodoo doll another poke. Nobody seems to want Joe Crede at $7, so I may have to go with what I’ve got.

Craig Hansen (P) Bos was promoted from Double-A Portland to Triple-A Pawtucket Thursday, according to the Boston Herald. He was 1-0 with a 0.82 ERA in five games with Portland. Hansen is slated to make his first appearance for Pawtucket tonight. I’m sure he could help us right now, but I’m not going to say that to Theo (Epstein), Sox manager Terry Francona said. If we got him up once every four days, that’s not going to help him. We need to be patient and let him do his thing.

Once every four days? That sounds like mop-up duty. But, on the bright side, it sounds like the organization believes he’ll be a competent middle reliever once he has a bit more minor league experience.

Yes, but unlike the Damon, he doesn’t have a bat in his hand.
